Great Funging Chinese Food

Ding Tai Fung

3235 Hwy 7

Rating: UNBUTTON YOUR PANTS

We’re not in Toronto anymore...well ish, we’re in Markham. And why did we go to Markham? To enjoy some of the highest quality dim sum. With a menu that’s pages and pages long you have plenty to choose from. We were DTF (down to feast) when we showed up at Ding Tai Fung (different DTF). We dined at DTF during Sunday lunch time, as the locals of Markham do. It's the type of place that guarantees you won't be hungry for dinner.

What’s Ding Tai Fung Known For?

DTF is known for its Dim Sum. It is not to be confused with the original Din Tai Fung in Taiwan nor is it a knock off like some variations in Toronto. With family style tables that allow for a work get together with the fam or with those friends you consider blood by now. DTF has perfected all kinds of dumplings, soup, pan friend - you name it.

What did we get?

Steamed Soup Dumplings With Pork Filling ($6.49) x 2

There's no label warnings here but be careful, they're hot! Loaded with a rich broth this dumpling is as dangerous as it is absolutely delicious. Go for two orders of this one!

Pan-Fried Pork & Chive Pops/Pockets ($6.75) x 2

Wise move to carry some gum or a mint in your pocket because this chive hive of a delight packs quite the taste. This dish pairs nicely with the spice of the green beans as well. If you're feeling up for it, we ordered two dishes of this one as well.

Stir-Fried Green Beans w/Minced Pork ($10.99)

Turning the spice up for this one, we went classic with our choice of greens. Crispy, spicy and an abundance are all ways we could describe this one.

Shanghai-Style Sauté Noodles W/Shrimp ($12.50)

Shanghai noodles are traditionally thicker which in turn, makes them harder to eat! But as always, GWNF loves a good mouth challenge...the soy based sauté leaves them with a light drizzle of a heavy broth.
